NETAPP TO ATTEND VMWORLD 2007 AS A PLATINUM SPONSOR
NetApp Will Highlight Efficient, Flexible, and Resilient Storage Virtualization Solutions in Speaking Sessions, Demonstrations, and Labs
What: Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP) today announced that it will be a Platinum Sponsor of VMworld, hosted by VMware September 11-13 at Moscone Center in San Francisco. NetApp is proud to present four sessions during VMworld, the largest virtualization industry event, which is expected to draw over 10,000 IT professionals ranging from technology experts, business executives, and VMware employees and strategic IT leaders to CIOs, reporters, and analysts.
At the NetApp booth, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss best practices with NetApp executives and subject matter experts. NetApp will also present a series of demonstrations on virtual storage, data protection, desktop virtualization, and VMware on NFS. In addition, attendees will be able to see NetApp hardware in action in seven of the conference’s hands-on labs.
A NetApp customer, Mellano & Company, a family owned and operated flower grower, will participate in a customer panel to share their experience as a NetApp® StoreVault™ customer during a Small and Medium Business session.
Session: “Simply Addressing the Disaster Recovery Needs of Virtual Infrastructures.” (BC33) There are many options for implementing disaster recovery with VMware Infrastructure 3, ranging from simple to complex. This session will focus on technologies that provide customers with flexible and low-cost solutions to the problem of replicating Virtual Machines. The presenters will examine some common customer deployments of NetApp SnapMirror® with VMware Infrastructure 3, including using synchronous or asynchronous replication over IP or Fibre Channel connections and the flexibility of mixing Fibre Channel and SATA disks in a replicated environment.
Presenters: Vaughn Stewart, NetApp Consulting Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Virtualization
Stephen Manley, NetApp Technical Director, Data Protection Group
Date/Time: Wednesday, September 12, 10-11 a.m.
Session: “Optimizing Storage for Virtual Desktops.” (DV16) Virtual Desktop solutions can drive storage requirements, often pushing costs that reduce ROI. NetApp presenters will take a look at the implementation of storage options and how they can drive down costs and management of a virtual desktop solution. This session will investigate solutions using A-SIS (advanced single instance storage) deduplication and FlexClone® volumes to minimize storage requirements and ease patch management.
Presenters: Vaughn Stewart, NetApp Consulting Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Virtualization Tommy Walker, VMware Engineer
Date/Time: Wednesday September 12, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Session: “Building Virtual Infrastructures with Network-Attached Storage (NAS).” (IP43) Implementing VMware Infrastructure 3 with NAS delivers high performance along with unique benefits not found with traditional block arrays. Customers looking for robust storage solutions that provide the highest levels of storage utilization and significantly easier storage management will benefit from considering a NAS solution. In this presentation, NetApp will demonstrate the benefits of implementing VMware Infrastructure 3 with NAS, including storage provisioning, VM deployment, and instantaneous backup and recovery. In addition, a NetApp customer will share the details and benefits of their VMware Infrastructure 3 on NAS deployment.
Presenters: Peter Learmonth, NetApp Consulting Systems Engineer
Kim Weller, NetApp SAN Consulting Systems Engineer
Bud James, BEA Systems Senior Manager, Data Center Operations and Collaboration Team
Date/Time: Wednesday, September 12, 2-3 p.m.
Session: “Automated Disaster Recovery with VMware and NetApp.” In this session, NetApp will provide an overview of how VMware and NetApp are jointly developing a tool that will enable automated failover between NetApp mirrors. As virtual machines are deployed on Network Appliance™ primary disk and ultimately replicated to NetApp secondary disk, the need for seamless, automated discovery and failover of those Virtual Machines for disaster recovery is apparent. Attendees will be treated to a sneak preview of this failover utility.
Presenters: Darrin Chapman, NetApp Senior Manager, Data Protection and Retention Product Engineering
Date/Time: Wednesday, September 12, 2-3 p.m.
