SnapManager for Exchange/SQL

As a standard part of Advanced Protection Architecture, all StoreVaults include snapshot technology that can be used to instantly backup and restore SAN data. However, to ensure a consistent and recoverable snapshot, the host application must be thoroughly paused before the snapshot is taken. SnapManagers integrate StoreVault snapshots directly into Microsoft applications, for consistent backups and restores in seconds, with up to 255 archives, in a fraction of the space and time taken up by tape backup. And StoreVault Replication can automatically move these snapshots offsite for disaster recovery of complete databases and stores in mere minutes.

SnapManagers are additional software utilities that smoothly and completely brings StoreVault Snapshot Technology™ to bear on Exchange stores or SQL databases hosted on a StoreVault. Based on tried and true NetApp technology, this toolset ensures consistent snapshotting and data management from a single host location and delivers consistent online backup of databases, performing full backups in seconds that require only incremental storage space.

  • Setup. SnapManagers are installed as a part of StoreVault Manager. Create and manage storage using one toolset for maximum ease of use and management.
  • Migrate. During installation, a simple wizard allows data migration to the StoreVault SAN.
  • Manage. Know what your Snapshot schedule looks like, what copies you have, where your archives are, and when they were taken - all at a glance and from within the SnapManager tool.
  • Backup. Schedule ongoing Snapshots of your database and ensure that caches are flushed and reads and writes are suspended before performing a backup. Resume in seconds, automatically.
  • Restore. Browse through multiple Snapshots to pick the point in time you want to mount and make live as a read-only copy for data retrieval.
  • Archive. Ensure that multiple long-term database, store and log copies can be captured and preserved for archival purposes.
  • Disaster Recovery. Leverage StoreVault Replication products to move complete Snapshots to another physical location.

  • A StoreVault connected as a SAN to a host server via iSCSI or Fibre Channel
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard, Enterprise or Small Business Server R2 Premier Edition
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or 2007
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Workgroup, Standard or Enterprise Edition
  • StoreVault Replication (optional) for additional complementary data management functionality
