A StoreVault is armed with a host of data protection technologies to provide the level of security that is right for your business.
All StoreVault solutions are shipped with RAID protection on the hard disk drive array. This RAID scheme provides protection for your data in the case of a drive failure: the failing drive is replaced and the RAID group automatically rebuilds the array from the surviving drives. A unique feature of NetApp RAID technology is that additional drives can be added to the array at any time to increase capacity. An additional level of protection is available though RAID-DP, a NetApp exclusive technology, which provides protection for your data in the event of 2 concurrent drive failures. This feature can be specified when you order a StoreVault, or you can add it at any time.
The time to recover from a failed drive can be enhanced with the addition of a global hot spare. This is an additional drive that carries no data until impending drive failure is detected. In this case the hot spare rebuilds the data from the flagged drive without waiting for a replacement drive to be found, typically before the drive actually fails, ensuring continued protection for your data.
A Standby Chassis can help provide more than 99% uptime. This item may be purchased as a spare part and used to field swap a chassis in as little as fifteen minutes. Data transfer and system integrity is ensured through an included 24x7 chassis swap service. This option is often more cost-effective than a second controller, especially when leveraged across multiple systems.
